Synopsis

Dead of night in the old capital, young Marcelo picks up a book amidst the city ruins— effigy to a once promising nation. In this alternate timeline, the Philippines is ruled by one party, dissent is nonexistent and musicians are systematically eradicated for they hold the key to bring the masses together through the power of music.

Marcelo holds the book close. It tells the tale of Diego Masangkay, a guitarist who once led a great rebellion. After finding a guitar of his own, Marcelo sets off on a terrible purpose to fight against an overwhelming force intent to keep his people in total darkness.

Director’s Biography

Filmmaker Jason Orfalas, born in Manila, grew up in New York City where he began his career as an illustrator for advertising and commercial art before returning to the Philippines. Already a professional artist, he furthered his craft studying writing and art at School of Visual Arts in New York, New York and is a recipient of the St. Gauden’s Medal awarded at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
